Chinese Adventure Students age 6 -Adult Beginning, Intermediate & Advanced Classes |
Students are grouped by language level - all new students are subject to a placement evaluation. Beginning Level -first 2-3 semesters Students with no previous or limited Chinese listening/speaking skills will instruction will Using stories involving daily activities and core sentence patterns for communication, beginning level students develop listening comprehension and speaking skills to establish a foundation for Chinese language proficiency. The course introduces a firm foundation in Chinese literacy through the introduction to Chinese Radicals (50) and sight reading 100 characters in the 2nd & 3rd semesters. Intermediate Level - 4th semester & beyond Intermediate students who have completed 1.5 or more years of our curriculum will move to the next skill level - expanding Chinese thinking ability & using their existing vocabulary to communicate as well as build new vocabulary. The primary goal at the intermediate level is to turn students into self-confident communicators. The curriculum includes stories & drama exercises & introduces a firm foundation in Chinese literacy through learning to sight reading 100+ characters. Students who have met this threshold & can compose their own narratives will be taught to type their own compositions using a Chinese Word Processor. Intermediate level students will prepare public presentations for Chinese New Year & the Annual School in May. Advanced Level Advanced students will continue to compose and type their own stories, explore native & CSL resources, and present their compositions live and on video for Chinese New Year & the Annual School Party in May. Class Materials are determined based on individual class levels & needs. Parents are invited to enroll as a student with their child in this class. Separate tuition applies. |
